What is Sexual Health Affiliates of Georgia (SHAG) and who is it for?
Sexual Health Affiliates of Georgia (SHAG) is a statewide professional network that connects individuals working in or alongside the field of sexual health. Our community includes therapists, medical providers, educators, students, and industry professionals who are committed to advancing sexual wellbeing. SHAG fosters building relationships, sharing resources, and strengthening the quality of sexual health care in Georgia.
How do I become a member?
Membership information, including eligibility, dues, and application steps, can be found on our membership page. We welcome professionals at various stages of their careers, as well as students and those supporting sexual health work.
Is SHAG open to professionals outside of Georgia?
SHAG is primarily focused on building connections within Georgia to strengthen local access to care. However, we welcome interest from professionals in neighboring areas or those with strong ties to the state, particularly if they serve clients in Georgia or collaborate with Georgia-based providers.
Does SHAG have a directory of sexual health providers in Georgia?
Yes. SHAG maintains a directory of sexual health professionals across Georgia, making it easier for the general public and referring providers to find appropriate care.
Is SHAG supportive and affirming of care for LGBTQ+ clients?
Yes. SHAG is committed to inclusive, affirming, and respectful care for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures. We value diversity and strive to support providers who offer competent, welcoming services to LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
I'm not a clinician — can I still attend SHAG events?
Yes. SHAG values interdisciplinary collaboration and welcomes participation from educators, students, and professionals whose work intersects with sexual health. Specific events may vary in focus or eligibility, but we aim to create opportunities for learning, connection, and community across roles.

- Professional Networking Events with other members of SHAG, and opportunities to connect with likeminded sexual health professionals for peer consultation, clinical supervision, and collaboration.
- A Member Listserv to communicate directly with the SHAG community about upcoming events, referral requests, and other services such as group offerings.
- Opportunities to Give Back to the Sexual Health Community through volunteer events and positions hosted by SHAG and any partnering organizations.

Individual memberships provide you access to all of the resources listed above.
All membership applications are reviewed by our Membership Chair.
Qualifying eligibility criteria:
- Terminally licensed (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, MD, PT/DPT), provisionally licensed under supervision, or current students.
- Specific training in providing sexual health services.
- Extensive experience providing clinical sexual health services (or current enrollment in a training program).
- Educator, researcher, entrepreneur or other non-medical/mental health professionals whose work is aligned with our mission.
The Board of Directors of SHAG reserves the right to deny membership to any individual who does not provide appropriate proof of the above membership criteria.
ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIP (Yearly Only)
$100

Offered to organizations that provide sexual health services.
Includes all Individual Membership benefits, plus:
- Organization will have a separate profile in the Member Directory and be able to participate in all networking events.
- Opportunities to be featured at a networking event as a "special guest" where the organization can briefly present its services.
The organization must offer sexual health-specific services and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing training and/or supervision.
