About SHAG
Sexual Health Affiliates of Georgia (SHAG) is a statewide network of trustedprofessionals dedicated to advancing sexual health, relationships, and wellbeing.
OUR MISSION
Strengthening sexual health
across Georgia
Sexual Health Affiliates of Georgia (SHAG) exists to connect the people who support sexual health across our state. We bring together therapists, medical providers, educators, students, and industry professionals into a collaborative, statewide network.
Our mission is to strengthen the field of sexual health in Georgia by fostering meaningful professional relationships, sharing resources, and increasing visibility of trusted services.
We believe supporting sexual health takes a community — and we're building that community together.
“Sexual health is a state of...well-being...not merely the absence of disease...”

What you can expect from
every SHAG professional
Sex Positive
We approach sexuality with openness and affirmation — never shame. There is no "right" way to experience one's sexuality.
Sexual Freedom & Health
Every person has the right to make autonomous decisions about their body free from coercion and stigma.
Expertise & Scope
Our members bring specialized knowledge and advanced education, practicing within competence and pursuing continued learning.
Curiosity & Nonjudgment
Every person deserves to feel genuinely seen. Our members approach each individual with authentic curiosity.
Cultural Humility
Sexuality is shaped by culture, religion, race, and lived experience. We honor what every client brings.
LGBTQ+ Affirming
SHAG members are unequivocally committed to affirming care — actively celebrating LGBTQ+ identities.
Science and Evidence-Based care
Our members ground their practice in current research, established clinical frameworks, and the best available evidence in the fields of sexual medicine, sex therapy, and human sexuality. We are committed to staying informed as science evolves, thinking critically about the evidence we use, and being transparent with clients about what is known, what is uncertain, and what continues to be studied. Rigorous science and compassionate care are not in tension — they are both essential.
